These Kumerican Kings and Divas are doing the most. Thumbs up..... you’ve really come far within this short period. Your resilience to be known in music in Music is commendable, ayekooo!

It doesn’t come as a surprise coming from a resilient background. From the 1940s to date, a lot of musicians have emerged from the Ashanti Territory. From the 1940s upwards saw some traditional and folklore musicians like Agya Koo Nimo, Teddy Osei and the Osibisa Band. In those years saw Great musicians like Kwabena Akwaboa, Alex Konadu, Jerry Hanson, Akwasi Ampofo Agyei, Alhaji Kwabena Frimpong, Awurama Badu, Amakye Dede etc.

And in the 1980s to 2000s, saw another batch fresh Highlife Legends like, Daddy Lumba, Nana Acheampong, Akosua Agyapong, Rex Omar, Pat Thomas, Nana Tuffuor, Nana Aboagye Dacosta, Rex Gyamfi etc.

In the middle part of the 90s saw the emergence of Reggie Rockstone (Reginald Yaw Asante Osei) pioneering Hip Life genre of music. Hip Life is a combination of two genres of music, Hip Hop and Highlife. So the use of the Hip Hop rap and the instruments of Highlife music combine brought about Hip Life music. Therefore it is no surprise Reggie Rockstone is the father of Hip life music. In the late part of 1990s, Akyeame, which was made up of Okyeame Kofi and Okyeame Kwame emerged emerged.

In the late 1990s to 2000s saw another iconic batch of Hip life and High Life stars including Obour, Ofori Amponsah, Okyeame Kwame, Kofi B, Stephanie Benson, Barimah Sidney, Becca, Cabum, Kunta Kinte, Flowking Stone, Wanlove the Kubolor, Akwaboah etc.

In the late 2000s to 2016, saw the legendary batch of Sarkodie, Efya, Fuse ODG, Sister Derby, Eno Barony, Strongman etc.

2017 coming has brought new faces like Kofi Mole, Amerado, Yaa Jackson, Bosom P-Yung. And hey, the emergence of the Kumericans young Kings and Divas, (The Asakaa Boys) Yaw Tog, O’ Kenneth, Kweku Darlington, Kweku Flick, City Boy, Reggie, Jay Bahd, Y Pee, Oseikrom Sikanii, King Paluta, Phrimpong, Phaize, Samant etc. with drip music, a new genre. How they entered into fame with the “Kumerica” brand, named all the towns in Kumasi with American states. This is talent!

And the trending and the new Queen of waves Gyakie Acheampong.

Giving us hit songs like Akatafoɔ, Sore, Ekorso, Forever, Sika aba fie, Control, Condemn, Kumerica anthem and more.

Musicians who hail from the Ashanti territory have represented us very well in Ghana’s music fraternity. The competition was tough and stiff but with good music they sailed and triumph through, not to mention the Gospel industry. Today we mentioned their name and we are proud of them.

Asanteman, let’s support these young ones as usual as we have done it from the past. No one can claim a support base in Ashanti, the only thing you can do is, do the music to suit our lifestyle and taste and we will love you forever. Music is dynamic, it changes from time to time so when they fight their way through to fame, let’s all come together and support them to reach their destination in music. Let’s encourage them to do well.

The competition is there on the outside, but with our support, Kumericans will continue to reign in GH music.

Piawwwwwww!!!!
